Direction???

I really don't understand the direction we're supposed to go in, how are we supposed to please the clients, who are expecting finished articles, by providing a "feeling;" if the clients are having difficulty appreciating that the avatars would be posed after modelling was finalised? They're not going to be happy with a list of instructions on how to do it themselves.
I had a look at past examples of what has been exhibited at D&AD, and I can appreciate that an ID card is not very interesting, and if we're supposed to make a composition to express a concept, then what is the purpose of it? For instance, I really like this entry, but it's purpose is to advertise a product and get people to buy it. And apparently we're not supposed to make anything physical like ads...
From the feedback and the meeting at BDP, I came up with the 3D building idea, but I really don't know if this is anywhere nearer to the direction we're supposed to be going in.

  1. Alex if you look on the brand communication link you posted and the third one down. That to me is the feel of what we are going for. We aren't going to be showing the final products be we will have info graphics like that example does to show logo and fonts just as that one does. posted the link below.

  2. It was hard for me to understand this, especially we've been told for so many times how important it is to please clients. From what I understood so far is we are not designing student card, website or anything else, But giving them guidelines for them to do these jobs.

Our book( or presentation) have to explain what their identity is. What I think 3D design can do is to make "information graphics" with 3D element so that it helps them to understand what we are trying to say.

  3. hmmm... perhaps what we're lacking is a coherant visual style. It would at least give us an idea of layout and treatment. For example, 'Vintage' has a very specific geometrical form
Right now anything we're coming up with is ultra simplistic, i'm not feeling that it's special or innovative in any way.
By modelling a specific object it has a definate form and function, whereas it's rather more challenging to manufacture a thought

  4. i think josh has got it right, the 3d elements need to visualise and make the client understand what we are showing them, by this i still think we need exaples of the way the logos etc would be applied like johnthan bell told us to do!
