Regarding to the feedback

Hi guys. I think I understand what Anastasios and Manos said about our process now. We talked about “finding identity” as a concept of our design but looking at the logo or avatar, I don’t think they are helping the audience to find their identity. May be we tried to make them too special and we forgot about what they actually do. They can be very simple but still tells our concept.

-What we can do now-

I think the idea of typography and colours that we came up with can stay, I can change logo to follows our concept.

Avatar: If we keep the same idea, everyone in a class will end up having same avatar and this doesn’t really tell our concept of “finding identity”. If avatar will only appear in the student card, why can’t we combine the student photo and avatar and make something like this…

(Obviously, this is just an example and we can make it more appealing.)

Science

Possibly the coolest hair in the (3D) world...

I've started on the science/maths character, hence the glasses, the hair is more generic styles, I was going for the science experiment gone wrong look (like in the sketch) but ended up with these styles

Avatar Categories

Art & Design - Easel, paint, palette
Building & construction - brick, trowel, spirit level
Business (combined with L&T, Accounting & Maths) - calculator, suit, briefcase,
Computing & IT - PC, mouse
Hair & Beauty - scissors, hair brush, magnifying lamp
Health & Social Care (combined with Child care & education) - chalkboard etc...
Media Studies (combined with photography) - camera,
Mechanics (Motorcycle Maintenance & Engineering) - spanner, oil stains, welding mask, soldering iron
Performing arts - Shakespearean costume, ballet shoes,
Science - test tube, safety glasses, lab coat, apple (relating to Newton)
Sports - football, racket, etc...

Humanities - English, Philosophy, Psychology, *Sociology... - globe, book,
Government & Politics (combined with Law *& possibly Sociology) - judge's wig, scales (of justice)
Catering - Chef's hat, whisk, cup cakes

(List may need to be narrowed down & consolidated)

I've noticed something in the prospectus, the categories are divided as above, with each page containing information about 3 or 4 BTEC/Diploma subjects, whereas not much space is reserved for A level subjects. Although Lambeth offers Academic subjects, it is far more directed towards the vocational subjects - something we may want to emphasise on in the advertising. (or something that may need to be addressed to attract A level students)

Assuming students who do the BTEC (mostly 1-2 yr courses) would be singularly working on this subject, the assignment of avatars is not a big problem, but how do you categorise students doing A levels, who would be doing multiple courses.

I'm trying to avoid social stereotypes, for example the computer geek or the evil scientist etc... but this could work if executed well, and students are willing to "make fun of themselves" - this could add more personality to the characters, give them a bit more attitude etc...
