just a quick rough idea...

logo idea

Here's are 2 logo ideas we came up with. I added the colours we chose. Logo 1 has transparent graphic element, so the background colour should be decided in the brand book.
As you can see, logo 2 have different colour versions. In terms of readability, I thought it would be nice to have different colour versions so that there will be some choices when it comes to placing the logo on to the colour background.

What do you think?

3D Logo

3D logo form - it only has basic materials right now

Logo idea

This is one of the ideas we have for the logo. We tried to achieve the uniqueness and creativity of the brand by using negative space. Our first concern was that it may not be readable as a logo. Therefore, we decided to add some graphic elements at the both edge to clarify the boundaries of the space. This helped the logo from being unreadable.
Colour will be applied later. The gap of the circle on the right side of the logo needs to be developed to look more dynamic. It looks like a mistake at the moment. The graphic element on the left side of logo can be used as it is to symbolize the brand. We have discovered that further we see the logo, more readable it is. This told us that the size of the logo should be controlled to have the best readability.

Logo Developments

After our discussion about narrowing our logos down to four idea, developing them and then narrowing it down to two to show the students I have developed my two. I would advise clicking on them to enlarge them. I've also numbered each development so we can comment if we think development number 3 would look good with some bits of 5 etc. tom

Rough logo Ideas

more rough logos continuing from the ones i made yesterday.

Visit to Lambeth College

This is what emerged from today's meeting with the client:

Logo: it has to show the concept of identity/individuality yet creativity, possibly through the use of more than one color (or all the colors from the color palette). The shapes have to be dynamic, represent movement, possibly "related" to circles and curves. "Lambeth College" has to be entirely written and not just the initials have to be shown. The words should be accompanied from a symbol or a vectorized image. The weight of the typeface shouldn't be very heavy.

Promotion: it was decided that the advertisement for the college should be something completely different from the current one: avoid to show those cliche pictures of students chatting together, or pictures of the actual school. Instead, the client is inclined to a more graphic approach to the concept, maybe showing some elements/objects that can be easily and quickly related to the school and the target audience. The client has named some object that he feels are closely linked to the college: books, computer, trees, lake, clouds, wood, curves, shell, brick...
Dynamism should be displayed in the advertisement too.
The designers suggested a possible connection between the prospectus and the posters, that could be turned into "something more than a poster", into something that students would like to pin up in their room.
Another approach, could be an ironic/satiric one. The negative reputation the borough of Lambeth has, reflects negatively on the college since it carries it name: this is something that could be approached ironically and used as a strength.

Quick Logo Mock Ups

Just very quick mock ups of some of the ideas the clients liked today, typography is not indicative of what it will look like just the general shape and feel. Will do some more tonight and tomorrow afternoon to post tomorrow. Personally I really like the one with the rotating triangle (though obviously not in blue)

Some more idea for the logo and advertising.

Logo and student card design

I have been working on designing the logo and student card within the concept of "Identity","Individuality" and "Creativity". Let me know what you think.

On Hannah's Behalf

Hannah still can't upload stuff to the blog so here's what she sent in the email.

Logo Book

I found this in the library and I'll bring it in to the next meeting, basically a book of about 700 logos, divided by subject and theme.

Klanten, R. and Bourquin, N. (2006) Tres Logos: A Selected Logo Collection, Berlin, Germany: Die Gestalten Verlag

Initial Research

A quick Grafik piece on using a generic logoform with specific elements for different scenarios. Okay the piece is based around the television series lost but the point remains. Obviously click on the image to make it big enough to readable.
